Our hallway tree is ready for the holidays! Mrs. Schafer's class provided lights and presents and Mrs. Reese's class made the trees and ornaments.

Thanksgiving Feast

All 41 third graders are having a small feast together for Thanksgiving. Everyone shared what they were most thankful for this year!

Bake Sale

The third graders raised about $300 at the bake sale for the Red Cross in the Philippines. Thank you to all the families who donated baked goods. Also, a big thank you to Mrs. Glenn who helped out both days!

Philippine Visitors

Fr. Noel from Elizabeth and Judith Glenn, Philip's mom, came and talked to us on Thursday about the Philippines. Father gave us some history of the country. It was named after the Spanish King Philip II. They became a member of the United Nations in 1946 and currently have a democracy that the U.S. helped them establish. Father and Judith had a hard time getting a hold of family members after the typhoon. It took them about three days to contact them to find out that they were okay! Both of their families had some rain and winds but were not hit by the center of the typhoon. This motivated the students to start baking for the bake sale this week.

Big Pumpkin Video

The third graders were practicing their reader's theater of "Big Pumpkin" today! We will be performing it tomorrow at the nursing home in Elizabeth.

Wow! I'm Behind on my Blogging!

We'll start with a vocabulary activity that Mrs. Benson helped us with. Each student got a corner of the paper to write about what they thought the word meant.

Fun at Math Night

Students and their families enjoyed a night of math activities. Mrs. Schafer's room was full of math games, in Mrs. Fry's room you got to make your own party mix, the computer lab showed off some of the technology we use with math, and in my room we worked on our problem solving skills. Philip was the winner of the circus peanut and candy corn jar. His guess was only 1 away from the right answer!  Thank you Philip for sharing your prize!

Fire Fighters Visit

Today the fire fighters reminded us to not hide from them in a fire, to have two ways out of every room, and to have a meeting place. Don't forget to check the batteries in your smoke detector!
