Math

This year we have adopted Go Math by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as our new math program. We are excited about trying out the new series. This program includes a problem-solving approach based on everyday situations, frequent practice of basic skills, and an instructional approach that includes the Common Core Standards.

All aspects of math will come easier when students have mastered the basic facts. At the beginning of the school year, this includes addition and subtraction facts; as the year progresses, we add multiplication and division.  Students may use the internet-based program "X-tra Math" to practice their facts during work time at school and at home.  www.xtramath.com

The Math-a-tube site shows videos that may help parents with the different algorithms that the students are learning. www.mathatube.com

Students will also have a username and password for the math program site. www.k-6thinkcentral.com
